Blah - Metaphysical Concept, Or Just Laziness?

Recent writing projects (particularly my attempt to do NaNoWriMo which only last three chapters...) have all managed to fail rather spectacularly, crashing to the ground right before my eyes and almost making me cry. Certain so-called "friends" would use this admission of failure to segue into a comment or insult such as "but that's just because you're a failure" etc, and possibly even "haha only girls cry" - although, admittedly, we're all making giant strides on the whole tolerance/racism/sexism thing. It's ironic, in a group as...individual as ours, but there you have it.

Maybe it's something to do with the crushing pressure of exams (which have actually constituted the major component of my "recent writing projects") forcing its way into my life until I am reduced to a gibbering wreck. Hopefully I can delay this descent into madness until after my Philosophy and Media Exams on Monday, and, if I'm REALLY lucky, until after I see "Quantum Of Solace" in Gold Class on Wednesday.

Despite all this failure, today has been a good one. I spent a large portion of it in the company of someone who never ceases to amuse me with her creative, and unique nature, and in anticipation of the arrival, two and a half hours late, of a friend whom I have known since year four. Much fun was had!

It seems that there are two things keeping me going right now:
1) Friends, and the humorous text messages I receive from one in particular.
2) Anticipation of the fact that it will all soon be over, and we will then proceed to a beach-house in Anglesea to break things, booze, surf and video game

Back on the topic of writing, intriguingly, my only success to date is a little parody of The Beatles hit "I've Just Seen A Face" which I penned while waiting for a train. Enjoy:

STALKING by Nick Jones
I've just seen a face I can't forget the time or place I saw it first,
There was a photo on her ID as I rummaged through her purse,
hmm mm mm mm mm mm

She's pretty, popular and smart, in short she's way above my class,
Since I can't talk to her I'll make do staring at her through her glass,
wi-i-i-i-in-dows

Stalking, yes I am stalking,
I'm staring at you from up a tree.

You'll never know just what you mean to me, you'll never be aware,
That time I bumped into you was so I could take some of your hair,
air air air air air air

I saw that photo that you posted on your Facebook page,
Although it's hot you shouldn't be doing that sort of thing at your age,
hey ey ey ey ey ey

And on your profile under “favourite bands” you say you like the Stones,
But yesterday in Gym you told your best friend you prefered Ramones,
Can you cla-arify?

Stalking, yes I am stalking,
Facebook and Google Maps are helping me.

Stalking, yes I am stalking,
Maybe one day, she'll talk to me.

Au Revoir.

Nick Jones - Novelist...

I recently discovered the idea of Nanowrimo (wiki it if it sounds like random syllables), and it's inspired me to give novel writing a bit of a go myself, so the idea is that every day for a month I will write no less than 500 words and add it to a blog you can find here. By the end of the month, we'll have a complete story, which will be made into a pdf and freely distributed. If you have any ideas for characters or plot developments, suggestions, or just want to let me know your thoughts, please leave a comment on that sight, and if it works for me I'll try and include it.

Go over there now and check out the Epilogue I've already posted. Expect more every day for the next month!

THANKS, AND SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE,
Nick
